Šířka pásma zadržovacího pásma se vztahuje k šířce rozsahu zadržovacího pásma, tj. kmitočtovému rozpětí mezi vysokými a nízkými mezními frekvencemi. Zádržné filtry mají různé míry útlumu, které se používají k vyjádření stupně útlumu signálu v rozsahu zadržovacího pásma vzhledem k signálu v rozsahu propustného pásma. Některé zádržné filtry mohou mít v rozsahu propustného pásma zvlnění, tj. změny v zesílení signálu v určitém frekvenčním rozsahu. Zvlnění lze řídit návrhem a optimalizací filtru, aby byla zajištěna kvalita signálu v rozsahu propustného pásma. Zádržné filtry mají obvykle specifickou vstupní a výstupní impedanci, která odpovídá požadavkům na impedanci zdroje signálu a zátěže.
Pásmové zádržné filtry se široce používají v různých oblastech, jako jsou komunikační systémy, audio zařízení, zesilovače, rádiové přijímače atd.
